“XOBC Cellars was founded in 2019 by multi Grammy winning artist Brandi Carlile, her wife Catherine, and their friends, Jeri and Amy Andrews. Their wines showcase the quality and refinement that makes Washington wine unparalleled. XOBC Cellars has struck a chord that’s rarely, if ever been heard - boutique exceptionalism coupled with a culture of rugged and radical inclusion. These women fused music and wine with a common goal of making a difference by donating proceeds from XOBC Cellars to Brandi’s Looking Out Foundation. A true outlier, showcasing female & LGBTQ+ leadership, this team of women in wine has raised the bar for the entire industry. Drenched in community and friendship, their winery is an enviable example of a brand and collective that can contribute to the greater good, proving their trademark that raising a glass can make a difference, too.”
K Brand Studio was brought on to create a brand with all of these values in mind. We melded femininity and a dash of rockstar and landed on the “XOBC” square logo, emanating Brandi’s signature: XO, BC. K Brand acts as XOBC’s “in house” Designer, creating anything from new labels to Airstream exteriors, web layouts, print materials and packaging. It’s a TRUE honor to work with this driven group of women and bring my skills to the table to help support the Looking Out Foundation.

Sarah of Simply Real Health is a true northwest talent. Her studies in food and overall wellness have enabled her to change the lives of thousands of people. Sarah approached K Brand to update her brand and do a light web facelift, adding sophistication with an approachable, "you can do this" feel. We went with a more muted palette to complement and not distract from the light-filled photography taken by Carina Skrobecki. It’s always a treat working with this talented team!
Sarah also brought me on to design her first cookbook. Check it out here.
This project was one for the books. I have a knack for wine drinking, love the idea of it showing up at my doorstep, and appreciate the Cellars Wine Club team and their desire to modernize their brand and website in a way that would appeal to wine aficionados and novices. Their primary audiences vary and they brought on a stellar SEO team to inform us up front on who's looking, who's signing up and which pages could use a little finessing.
I pursued various logo concepts, some more modern, some more timeless and I'm very pleased with where we landed. The sharp serifs were pulled from this logotype to form a cluster of wine grapes. We've all seen grapes for wine logos... but have you seen any like these? There's a high-end feel to it with the mix of thins and thicks in the letterforms and mark. I also explored ways of combining the letters CWC for their monogram to be used for signature and exclusive applications.
The Cellars website was built in the latest Wordpress platform, with an intuitive ecommerce functionality and user interface that works well on all devices. The site showcases their branding and iconography while highlighting the most important aspect of this wine delivery schtick... the people who receive it.

SSF is a Structural Engineering firm in Seattle that finds itself being anything but ordinary. This team of creative, unique, playful, hard-working individuals was a dream team to work with. No concept pushed the envelope too much. They wanted a relevant and timeless brand, one with a bit of punch to it, and some texture. Most other Engineering firms in the area are a bit more stiff in their branding, whereas SSF is approachable and bold.
I created a new "badge" logo for them, a vibrant color palette to match their personalities, a responsive site with video backgrounds and an all encompassing Wordpress CMS.

Burgess Interior Architecture is a well known firm in Seattle started by Jim Burgess in the early 1990's. Their clients value how space transforms a visitor's experience and Burgess always delivers. They use the best materials, innovative palettes, and work in a pretty ideal space themselves. Burgess' design team approached K Brand Studio for a complete overhaul of their website and a collaboration with their dream design team on their new brand.
Burgess' website is built in a Wordpress CMS, including highly intuitive editing capabilities, video snippets that can be placed anywhere you see an image, and some bold, right-up-my-alley type styling. We also implemented some HTML5 scrolling on the homepage project reveal.

Indix is all about boosting product intelligence. They have the world's largest product database, one that is incredibly powerful when accessed by merchants trying to compete against others selling the same products.
Indix had a basic logo and a mixed bag of branding when they came to us at Dapper. After going through a brand platform exercise to better understand their business personality, goals, and value, I was able to create a logotype and brand guidelines document that spoke to who they really are. Indix is a tech firm, one that not only leads their industry, but also is relational and has a fantastic work environment. We used a mix of round and hard corners in their logotype to emphasize these unique attributes, as well as bold, playful colors.
The Indix website was build in a fully customized Wordpress CMS utilizing full-screen video backgrounds and a responsive layout.

While at Methodologie, a design firm in Seattle, I was privileged to work on the rebranding of Seattle Children's, a world renowned children's hospital. Our team developed the full visual brand system, from the palette to typography, graphic styles, photography styles, and applications.
We used bright and positive colors, emphasizing Children's focus on "hope. care. cure."

The Boeing Aero Magazine is a quarterly technical publication for Boeing's commercial airplane clientele (buyers, engineers, maintenance technicians, etc.). I'm fascinated by aerospace engineering and was thrilled to dive into the content in this quarter's issue. Methodologie had established a very intuitive layout for Aero and I did content flow and styling, as well as information graphic creation.
Flinn Ferguson is a tenant representation firm that locates and outfits well-designed spaces for some of Seattle's biggest businesses. These guys treat their clients like royalty and never miss a beat.
Their existing brand was far from contemporary, so we exercised a full rework of all things Flinn Ferguson. Taking the letter "F" from both last names, I turned them on their sides and manipulated them to look like skyscrapers standing tall.
Much of Flinn Ferguson's office is designed with sleek white and dull dark wood surfaces, with chrome and glass, overlooking Seattle and the Puget Sound from 49 stories up. I chose crisp, modern colors on the cooler side of the spectrum that would work well in their space.
Their fully customized Wordpress CMS website is built in responsive to work on all devices and is very image heavy... this group knows that images of jaw-dropping spaces are really what sells.

TCS Expeditions is a well-established, world travel company that provides highly personalized, enriching experiences from the comfort and convenience of their own fleet of private jets. Sign me up.
This project was a complete rebrand. The new brand was carried through to their new website, a promotional booklet, and other marketing materials. I created the logo, templates and style guides, and our team applied them to the plane wrap and promotional booklet.
Working with National Geographic quality imagery made this design dive one for the books. The company takes travelers to multiple destinations (sometimes 10+) in all different countries around the globe where they eat only the finest foods and stay in elaborate hotels.
Considering all of this, and the fact that their old logo had some brand value to it, we explored many different directions but landed on a modified compass rose, with the highlighted arrow pointing forward and up, leading to the next destination.

Redmond Welders & Fabricators works with some of the largest builders in the greater Seattle area. They have strong leadership, precise deliverables, and needed their brand and website to showcase that. Chris Brilz approached me wanting a timeless badge logo with an industrial feel. We used structured lines and blocks in their business cards to further emphasize their reliability and a mix of clean modern type with a more masculine decorative font.
The Redmond Welders website is built in Squarespace and will be launching soon at www.redmondwelders.com.
Phil Greely of Realogics Sotheby's International Real Estate came to K Brand Studio with a very solid concept. Phil is a Realtor, and a parent. He knows what his clients with families want... the right house in the right school district. How do you, as a parent moving from out of town, find the best fitting school for your kids? Most school search sites leave parents with more questions. The Seattle School Guide was created to remedy this common issue. Phil asked parents of kids at public and private schools in the Seattle area the questions that really matter. Questions like "do your kids feel safe?", "is the school responsive to the input and concerns of families?", "what is the percentage of non-english speaking students?", "does the school implement a clear plan of action when a student struggles academically?", and many more. Once parents have these answers, they can start looking at homes in the right places, knowing that their kids will be setup with the best education for their needs and abilities.
I developed a logo, Brand Guidelines, an icon set and developed the SSG website in the latest Wordpress platform. The palette and overall style are bright, bold and approachable, clearly highlighting important statistics. The search functionality works by keyword, category, map and district. Each school information page gives the parent all of the information they need to connect with the school and links directly to filtered search results showcasing homes in that school's district.

I was thrilled when Sarah of Simply Real Health approached me to design her first published cookbook. We'd developed her fresh, citrus-inspired brand a year before to update her already thriving healthy-living business. The recipes were photographed by the ever-talented Jasmine Nicole Pulley (Jasmine's site), who fully captured the beauty of Sarah's real food recipes. Publication design is a favorite of mine... organizing heaping amounts of information in a way that creates an intuitive experience for the reader. All 3 of us were all-in. We wanted this 400 page cookbook to not only inspire the readers to live healthier, more satisfying lives, but also to become a staple in kitchens across the world.
Sarah's open minded-ness throughout the process gave me the freedom to play with all sorts of typography and unique page styling. This was a dream project. Want to order one? Head this way.

Thrive Communities, an experienced property management company, approached us to work on the naming, branding, signage and web presence for an apartment complex near Washington D.C. that they were renovating. The complex completely fit the bill of the area, offering a large pool, workout areas, BBQs and a lot of communal spaces for all of the warm days throughout the year.
The property had old waterwheels throughout the ponds in the central part of the complex and we only saw it fit to name it Wheelhouse, using the tagline "What's in your wheelhouse?". To each their own, and that's certainly true for the tenants here. Dogs allowed and amenities abound. The surrounding apartment complexes had very soft, dry colors and we decided to use something a bit more punchy to make Wheelhouse stand out. We used modern typography paired with a refined "water wheel" to modernize the mark.

Estee Raviv of "From Estee's Kitchen" has a very unique background in food. Growing up in Israel, her recipes often resemble some of the most refreshing traditional Mediterranean dishes. Her unique spin on food is that she's also vegan. She's creatively come up with recipes that can be used as substitutes for cheese, as well as making most items gluten free. I've been inspired by some of the unfamiliar ingredients in her book. If you're interested in learning more about her cookbook, click here.
Estee wanted a classic logo in a container. We pursued a mixed-type stacked logo held in place by a noodle-thin circular container. The symbols on the top and bottom of the type resemble a fleur de lis or a mark of royalty.

Northline Apartments are in a prime location along Seattle's Interurban Trail. Thrive Communities asked us to create a logo that emphasized the accessibility of Northline's location. Not only that, but these apartments definitely draw in the twenty-something with a pup, a nice bike, the love of the outdoors and a job downtown. We used a modified condensed typeface for the logotype and illustrated the "N" as a stop along a trail.
The Northline website allows the current tenant to pay rent, as well as the interested user to apply online and check out local amenities and property photos. The site is built in Wordpress with a responsive layout.

Marissa is a local Seattle talent who was looking for a hip, relevant brand for her bakery. Everything she does in her business is crafted to perfection with her hands, so we decided to use a hand-drawn look with her typography and textures. Colors are earthy with some fiery pop in the "hot melon" color we used for the word "Kitchen". Watch out for this one... her creations are beyond tasty!
Mark Garments is a company near and dear to my heart. My husband and I met working in a special needs ministry/mentorship program years ago. He's always dreaming up some incredible invention or business concept and Mark Garments was one that really stuck. Working with a local clothing design company, Mark Garments created high-end crewneck sweatshirts in french terry that are timeless and wearable by all. The gusto behind the company was that it employed people with special needs that have been unable to find work because of their special circumstances. Steven was our first employee and held his very first paid job with us at the age of 27. Steven skillfully mastered our letterpress machine, crafting beautiful tags for our products. This is a story of empowerment.
Our brand reflects the strength and timelessness of the product, with a nod to the vintage, handmade concept. Local, comfortable, stylish. This product is a meaningful investment.
The apartment and commercial building boom is in full effect on the West coast and I've been privileged to work on various naming, branding and web projects for these new builds.
Axis Work Lofts is a medium-sized, modern commercial building owned and managed by Unico Properties. I created a logo that emphasized the axis of the "x", drawing part of the axis down to lock in a container for "work lofts". The clientele are mainly small tech startups, so I went with a bright, bold palette.

OAC is a Construction Management, Architecture and Engineering firm in Seattle, Silicon Valley and Spokane.
OAC came to us at Dapper with an open mind and the drive to bring their website up to today’s best practices. Thier stunning projects are photographed well, so we naturally used them in larger formats throughout the pages. We developed this responsive site and CMS in WordPress, giving the admin user full control over all parts of the website. We’ve also created letterpress holiday cards and modern services booklets to hand out at community events.

Fort Lawton is one of the most unique and exclusive home buying opportunities that Seattle has seen in decades.
Thrive Communities, Inc. saw more than enough potential in these old Officer’s mansions and homes overlooking Discovery Park, Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain range. The history and charm of these homes influenced my badge development logo and my coworker's illustrated community logos. We also designed and developed a responsive website, leasing flyers, and more.

Capitol Hill is a hub of eclectic culture, incredible food, the arts and really almost anything else you can think of. Not only is it a lively place to live, but it sits just above downtown Seattle, making it a perfect place to commute from. The apartment boom in Seattle has fully permeated Capitol Hill, one of those buildings being Excelsior. Excelsior was built by Madison Development Group out of Kirkland. The vision for this project was to create an edgy, Capitol Hill-worthy brand that would draw in the average dweller in the area. The building used to house a motorcycle shop, one which would have seen many Excelsior models. We decided to name it Excelsior and play off of the imagery, materials, and verbiage of the brand.

Well, this was truly a project for the books. Two women with decades of combined experience in the women's retail industry came together to create an online store full of the latest in fashion trends. Not only is their selection fabulous, but they also support micro loans for women in need across the globe with a part of the profits. Women empowering women. Win win.
I wanted to come up with a very feminine logotype, one that is approachable and has a nice weight for tags and other applications. The colors are poppy -- a royal purple and vibrant orange. I thoroughly enjoyed my research with kris&kate... open houses at their warehouse, studying relevant competitors, talking with women in all age ranges. We developed the kris&kate website in Magento, with a secure shopping cart and a fully custom and user-managed content management system. These ladies are setup for success.

The owners of Bottlehouse in Madrona, a wine tasting bar, shop and event space, have created their very own wine club. Feeling thirsty? I created a variety of badge-style logos using illustrations inspired by Homer's The Odyssey and the rings of a wine glass on a napkin.
Members pick up monthly boxes of wine of which have a "pick up" sticker and stamped member label describing its contents.

ArtsFund strengthens the community by supporting the arts through leadership, advocacy and grant making.
ArtsFund was ready for a brand refresh, a new set of brand guidelines, as well as a website overhaul that included a wordpress platform and a responsive layout. Their stunning photography is featured in large sliders and smaller image buckets throughout the site. We updated the typography in their logo, using a more contemporary letterform and brightened their red/orange to emphasize the vibrancy of the people they support.

Integrated Real Estate Services came to us with a blank slate. Out with the old and in with the new. I concepted and created a transparent mark, alluding not only to a space, but also the stability and care that the IRES team provides. With a full brand build-out, one of my favorite applications were IRES' letterpress notecards. There's nothing better than a transparency in letterpress.

Information design is an absolute favorite of mine. I originally pursued classes that would lead me to becoming a high school calculus teacher, but was eventually hooked on design once I dabbled in the courses in the UW VCD program. Creatively visualizing charts, graphs, statistics, diagrams, and dimensional spaces? Yes. Right up my alley.
This project was a student project for a green energy magazine. I dove into how wind turbines are engineered, how they create and transfer energy, and how wind energy is being capitalized on (and where it isn't) throughout the world. What an intriguing study!
